Medium - Polaroid Emulsion Lifts

Polaroid emulsion lifts emerged during the golden era of instant photography in the 1970s and ’80s. The process involves peeling apart the gelatinous image layer from its backing, soaking it in warm water to soften, then carefully lifting and repositioning the delicate emulsion onto a new surface. Emulsion lifts are inherently fragile and unpredictable and must be manipulated underwater by hand.
